How This DCA Portfolio Works

Starting amount and recurring purchases

Your starting amount and each recurring contribution are divided using the selected allocations. Fractional units are purchased. Existing holdings are not sold to rebalance.

Contribution timing and calculation dates

Recurring contributions begin one frequency interval after the requested start. Each asset buys on its next supported closing-price date. Cash awaiting a purchase is included in portfolio value. Stocks carry their latest close on weekends and U.S. exchange holidays; crypto updates daily.

Actual dates and cached data information for a completed result are shown below.

Returns and XIRR

Total Return is your gain divided by total invested. Annualized Return uses XIRR, which accounts for the dates of your starting amount and recurring contributions. The savings benchmark receives identical dated deposits. Fees and taxes are excluded.

Frequently Asked Questions

How are recurring contributions allocated?

The same percentages split every deposit. For example, a 50% allocation receives $500 of each $1,000 contribution.

Does this portfolio rebalance?

No. New money follows your chosen allocation, while previous holdings keep growing or falling with the market. Ending weights can differ from target weights.

Why use XIRR instead of CAGR?

XIRR accounts for multiple cash flows on different dates. CAGR assumes one starting investment. XIRR can be unavailable when the cash flows do not support a valid annualized result.

Historical performance does not predict future results. This calculation excludes transaction costs and taxes.
